What is the Teachable iOS App?
The Teachable iOS app is completely free and it allows students to access their courses on their mobile devices. Once a student is enrolled in a course on your Teachable school, they can access all the content through the app.
The app is available on all Teachable plans, including the Teachable free plan.
How Students Get the Teachable Application
Here’s a simple guide you can share with your students to download the Teachable app:
Open the App Store on their iOS device.
Search for "Teachable".
Click Get > Install.
Enter an Apple ID password or use Touch ID.
Note: The app requires iOS 15.0 or later. It's optimised for the iPhone but can also be used on an iPad.
How Students Log In
After downloading, students can log in by:
Tapping the Teachable icon on their phone's home screen.
Entering the email address associated with their course purchase.
Checking their email for a one-time password if prompted.
Copying and pasting the code into the app.
Viewing a list of their current school enrollments.
They won't need to do this every time they use the Teachable app. They should stay logged in between sessions so their courses are available with one tap from their home screen.
Features for Students
Here are the main features your students get through the Teachable app:
Access All Courses - Students can view all their purchased courses with active enrollments, regardless of which Teachable school they bought through.
Stream Content - They can watch videos, listen to audio and view PDFs. Any content uploaded to your curriculum will be visible in the Teachable application.
Offline Viewing - Students can download lessons to view offline on their device. This is different to downloading a file that they could share with someone. The "downloaded" lessons in the app are available inside the app itself provided they still have an active enrollment.
Progress Syncing - Course progress syncs automatically between the app and your Teachable school. So if they've completed a lesson on their laptop then open the app, their progress will be kept in sync.
Easy Navigation - They can move seamlessly between lessons and courses.
Take Quizzes - Students can complete lessons quizzes if you've included them in your course, and they can see their results as they progress.
Benefits for Creators
The Teachable app isn’t just beneficial for students—it also helps you as a creator by:
Increasing Accessibility - Your students can learn from anywhere, increasing course completion rates. The higher your course completion rate, the better the outcomes for your students which can lead to repeat purchases.
Better Engagement - With features like offline viewing and progress syncing, students are more likely to stay engaged with your content if they can use whichever device is most convenient for them.
Premium Experience - Students often feel like they're getting more value for their money if they have a dedicated platform to access the course content, rather than accessing through a browser.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
The Teachable application is super easy to use, but here are some issues students might face and how to resolve them.
Can't receive the one-time password (OTP) code?
Ask your students to check their spam folder. The OTP can sometimes land in their by accident. If it's not there, they can resend the code after a minute. If it's still not coming through, ask them to double-check for typos in their email address.
Need to log in to another account?
If they've already used the Teachable application using a different email address, they might need to log out and then back in with the correct email address. They can select the user icon in the top right corner of the app to open account settings. Then click Sign out and log in with their other account.
